In many instances, radiation detection involves the detection of signal pulses using photodiodes. If pulses of radiation are detected using scintillators, for example, the scintillated light might be detected using photodiodes. Sometimes the radiation in question (e.g. X-rays, gamma-rays, ionized particles) might be detected directly using photodiodes, where the radiation is absorbed within the photodiode's active region. In any of these cases, the best method to amplify the signal pulses from the photodiode is to use a charge sensitive preamplifier.

Cremat's charge sensitive preamplifiers are often used with photodiode-based radiation detectors, including those using p-i-n photodiodes and avalanche photodiodes (APD).

In addition to being used as photodiode amplifiers, Cremat's charge sensitive preamplifiers may be used with semiconductor radiation detectors (e.g. CZT, CdTe, etc), photomultiplier tubes (PMTs), microchannel plate (MCP) detectors, or gas-based detectors (e.g. proportional counters).

All product specifications can be found at this web site, as well as application notes describing their best use.

Modular Approach

Cremat encourages a modular approach to developing radiation detection instrumentation. Changes or repairs may be simply effected by changing modules.

Cremat's CR-110 charge sensitive preamplifier may possibly be a pin-for-pin replacement for hybrid components in your existing circuitry.
